The Ice Cold Tundra

Mainly the Tundra is characterized by permafrost, which is a layer of permanently frozen subsoil. Cold temperatures, the very short growing season, and high winds also limit plant height. The reason why the plants are small and short is because of the cycle of freezing, whic rips and smushes plant roots. Some dominant animals that are found in the Tundra are foxes, migratory waterfowl, musk ox, and other small rodents. Tundras are most commonly found in Northern North America, Asia, and Europe.
